….to see and feel

“You see, some things I can teach you. Some you learn from books. But there are things that, well, you have to see and feel.”

– Khaled Hosseini, A Thousand Splendid Suns

Inspired Elf

Who inspires you?

Who makes your mind sing?

That spark or light,

That lets your imagination take flight?

I’m very inspired by Deborah Frances-White and the work she does to inspire women to be strong and loud and visible.  I urge you all to listen to her podcasts.

One of the authors that I find most inspiring is Khaled Hosseini, his books transport you into the lives of other people.  Giving you a taste of something so real it strikes you as strange when you look up to find your world in front of you.

Just two of my current inspirations, I felt compelled to share.

More of summer

“Summer was on the way; Jem and I awaited it with impatience. Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the tree house; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape…”

Haper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

Hong Kong’s Soul

“Affluence isn’t affluence at all. Hong Kong is the benchmark; everybody else’s affluence is mere tat. Until you’ve experienced that perfume-washed air as polarized glass doors embrace you into a luxury hotel’s plush interior, you’ve only had a dud replica of the real thing.”

Dedication

“Talent is cheap; dedication is expensive. It will cost you your life.”

– Irving Stone, The Agony and the Ecstasy

The start of something

The start of something is always the hardest part of the journey.

2018  has started and there are many things to reflect on and many things that need to be started.  Our plans for this year’s travel and adventures are well on the way.

Part of the delay in the kick start of this year has been the other writing love in my life, my play writing, has taken a front seat at the moment due to my second play being published.  I have put my links at the bottom of the page in a shameless self promotion.

No excuse is a good excuse, I know.  But in any case this is an excuse that I am proud of.

Any way, on to the next thing, we’re off to an exhibition at the National History Museum.  More to follow…
