Mowgli’s first adventure

This is it.  Adventure time with Mowgli.

We catch the train to Winchester.

There is a lot of snuggling and loving of a polite dog loving man we’ve not met before.  (Don’t worry Mr Elf, Mowgli did the snuggling and loving not me).  This seems to be the biggest issue we encounter with a pup on transport…his affection for complete strangers is inexhaustible.

received_10155108356117655Transport in London is pretty pet friendly.  No dogs on the seats and they must be “under control”.  So tubes, buses and trains are all open as long as you have these two rules sorted.

The train to Winchester is about 50-60 minutes long and do able in puppy bladder terms.  although we do ensure he is empty before we get on and he gets a change to go as soon as we get off.

Pubs and cafes are also for the most part dog friendly in the UK although, do respect the signs that say otherwise when you see them.

We spend the weekend tearing around the garden and avoiding the cat.  Said cat…not too keen on this usurper of affection and steal-er of unattended food.

The train ride back is easy…Mowgli is happy to all asleep on a lap and wake up back in London.

5 things about Mowgli the Elf

Things I’ve learn since Mowgli joined us.

1) You only ever have one shoe from now on.

2) Poops outside are exciting.

3) Don’t go barefoot…because …well we haven’t nailed no 2) yet.

4) Tights are a bad idea.

5) Puppies are awesome

The Littlest Elf

Maybe this will seem like a rash and strange decision for traveling folk like us here at Elvesabout. But rest assured this was 18 months of long hard thinking, planning and viewing of pups and dogs before we made this commitment. Which is just as it should be. Getting a dog is not acquiring a possession but welcoming a new member into your family.

Quiet Elves

Its not like us to have been quiet!  We’ve been puppy siting and it has been glorious.

His name is Billy and he is the much loved dog of our friends.  Our lovely friends have been busy with wedding preparations and the big day its self so Billy has been staying casa de Elf!

Billy’s gentle companionship and company has been great fun and we enjoyed being able to help out good people in a difficult time.  Yes…it’s one of those posts.

Lets help each other.  Really do it, its great!  I know it seems a silly thing to point out and we shouldn’t do things just to make ourselves feel good,  but it does feel good to do favors and to offer support and help.  Little kindnesses (or big ones) make big differences to people and their lives.

We have also had a small hiatus to the adventuring due to Mr Elf braking his ankle.  Poor boy is hopping around on crutches and has all the annoyances that go with a moon boot.  Fingers crossed that he will be mended up soon and we can get back to the adventures.
